A few interesting facts: 

  • Charlotte County is home to some of the finest public beaches in the world!
  • Boca Grande Pass is known as the "Tarpon Capital of the World."  Some of these fish have weighed in excess of 200 lbs! 
  • Bountiful boating and some of the best sport-fishing in the world!
  • This area has also played host to a veritable who's who that has included movie stars, famous authors, presidents of the United States and just about every other breed of the rich and famous imaginable. 
  • Extensive nature trails provide opportunities for hiking and bicycling.
  • Visitors love this slice of paradise for its upscale relaxed lifestyle and its unspoiled beaches and wildlife preserves.

  • Don Pedro and Little Gasparilla Island were home to the Calusa Indians for thousands of years.  They were discovered by Ponce De Leon in the 1500's.  Ponce De Leon wanted to find the "fountain of youth" but instead he came upon the pristine beaches of Don Pedro and Little Gasparilla Islands.  After this discovery, the islands became home to pirates and smugglers for hundreds of years before giving way to homesteaders in the 20th century.
